Fuerst Gotthard is a homozygous gray 16.2H stallion bred at Gestut Vorwerk, Germany and imported as a three year old. He produces gray regardless of your mare’s color. As an international jumper, Fuerst Gotthard, shown under the name “The Titleist”, won multiple Grand Prixs, World Cup classes and placed in many more classics with Olympic riders Robert Ridland, Hap Hansen and Eddie Macken.

Some of his great winnings include:

  • ’91 Jimmy Williams Futures
  • ’92 Spruce Meadows Grand Prix
  • ’92 LA National World Cup
  • ’92 Flintridge World Cup
  • ’92 LA World Cup
  • ’92 Del Mar World Cup Finals
  • ’93 Winner Desert Circuit World Cup Classes

His disposition, rideability and movement is excellent.

As a three-year-old, just two months under saddle, Fuerst Gotthard became Show Champion stallion at both the West Coast Sporthorse Classic and the LA Equestrian Center futurity.

At his Oldenburg licensing Fuerst Gotthard scored 8’s for correctness of gates, swing & elasticity, overall impression and development, hindquarter, frame, breed & sex type. Later that year he became reserve champion of his 100 day test with the high score of 132.24. receiving 9,s for ability to work, general jumping ability and cross country; an 8 average for walk, trot, canter, and 8’s for willingness to work and rideability.

As a 4 year old, ridden by Volker Ehlers, Fuerst Gotthard received the unusual high score of 84% in a first level dressage test.

In 1997 as a fourteen year old stallion Fuerst Gotthard was licensed for Hanoverian breeding.

Fuerst Gotthard was the only stallion on the West Coast to be licensed out of the five stallions presented. Again scoring high with 8’s for correctness of gaits, impulsion & elasticity, free jumping and his brilliant head.

Fuerst Gotthard is one of only four stallions nationwide to receive 5 stars in the ISR Star Award Program. He achieved this with less offspring than any other stallion in history!

Fuerst Gotthard’s pedigree depicts Germany’s most successful and record holding jumper bloodlines. With his sire First Gotthard, 142 on the jumping index, descendant of Furioso II and Gotthard on the top side and Inschallah/More Magic xx on his dam’s side out of two generations of State Premium Mares and going back to Lord (Ladykiller x Cottage son). Similar bloodlines are found in Holland’s top jumper producer; “Voltaire” (Furioso II/Gotthard /More Magic xx).

As a 4 year old, ridden by Volker Ehlers, Fuerst Gotthard received the unusual high score of 84% in a first level dressage test.

Fuerst Gotthard sired 17 registered offspring prior to becoming a show jumper, but was not used for breeding during his illustrious jumping career. Various offspring enjoy very successful performance careers through Grand Prix level and were awarded breed show championships, inspection Championships, USDF Championships, CDS and USDF horse of the year and many high scoring premiums. The popularity he currently enjoys with breeders and the performance world alike is creating a high demand for his offspring making them a pleasure to own, train, ride and very saleable!

The first inspected Hanoverian Fuerst Gotthard offspring have done very well. He had multiple champion foals at inspections and multiple champion mares. Even as a very successful broodmare sire: his get produced a site champion Hanoverian mare and champion of the performance test with an overall 8 and a 10 for jumping.

At the 2002 REM Hanoverian inspection the Champion mare was a Fuerst Gotthard and scored an overall 8 and a 9 for impulsion and elasticity. The other Fuerst Gotthard mare shown placed 3rd and was the only other mare also scoring a 9 for impulsion and elasticity out of 16.

Fuerst Gotthard continues to be fully licensed and approved for breeding by The American Hanoverian Society, The German Hanoverian Verband (AHS & VHW), is approved by SWANA for Swedish mares and nominated for the International Jumper Futurity. Fuerst Gotthard offspring have also been registered with the German Oldenburg Verband, the “Dutch” NAKWPN and the RPSI.
